Services

This is the Society's journal, published quarterly and sent free to members. Bound annual volumes and copies of most individual issues of Germania and other Society publications are available.

This service is restricted to members resident in the UK. Packets containing a wealth of material are constantly in circulation.

A postal auction, usually 700-900 lots, is held six times a year. A small charge is made to members wishing to receive the auction lists.

THE POSTAL AUCTION HAS BEEN SUSPENDED UNTIL A NEW MANAGER CAN BE FOUND - SEE NEWS PAGE FOR DETAILS

The library holds a fine collection of books, catalogues, and other material related to German philately which may be borrowed by UK members, free of charge except for postage. The library catalogue can be found by clicking here.

The Society has a number of regional and study groups. Details of these, with the names and addresses of the organising officers can be found by clicking here.

Members can purchase from a range of publications on various aspects of German philately - general or specialised - including translations of sections of the Michel German catalogue. Back issues of "Germania" are also available. Furthermore, the Society can supply from the full range of Prinz, Lindner, KaBe, Michel, Schantl-Plattenfehler and Philex albums, leaves, accessories and catalogues at 20% discount.

Events

The Society holds an AGM weekend each year in September or October, varying the venue. The weekends usually include a public stamp fair, members' displays, an excursion, auction and, of course, a good deal of socialising and fun. Every three to four years the weekend's activities are augmented by a competitive Germania Posta exhibition in conjunction with a stamp fair.

HABRIA '11 - Hanover Friday 18 to Sunday 20 November 2011

Congratulations and thanks to all those members and spouses who managed to attend and/or exhibit at this wonderful event, thus flying the flag for our Society, and to the Briefmarken Club Hannover for staging it. We also would like to record our appreciation of the superb service we had from the Fora Hotel, Hannover.

AGM WEEKEND 2012

Friday 5 to Sunday 7 October 2012
Best Western Queens Hotel, Leonard Street, Perth, PH2 8HB

The Society’s Scottish Group is hosting our 2012 AGM, dates and venue as above. The package rate for the weekend (Friday & Saturday dinner, bed & breakfast + Society events) will be £170 per person. The hotel is offering members who wish to stay on for extra nights a rate of £61.00 b & b per person per night. A booking form will be enclosed with the February 2012 issue of Germania.
Perth is a historic town which has many opportunities for sightseeing and shopping and in 2012 it will celebrate its 900th anniversary. The hotel is situated opposite Perth railway station and there are trains every hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh and on certain times of the day there is a direct train from London Kings Cross on the East Coast line. Some very good advance train ticket deals can be obtained over the internet, particularly if one goes for individual single tickets for the outward and return journeys rather than a return ticket to cover both. The hotel is also next to the Bus Station with regular bus services from Glasgow and Edinburgh.
